This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am writing to seek your support in funding essential science educational materials for Boston Collaborative High School, where I serve as a science teacher for a diverse group of students, including a significant population of English language learners (ELLs). These students are driven to succeed but often face challenges due to language barriers that can impede their ability to engage with complex scientific concepts.

To bridge this gap and ensure equitable learning opportunities for all, I am requesting funding to acquire the following resources:

Science Flashcards: These will provide visually engaging, bilingual vocabulary aids that allow ELL students to build their scientific lexicon in a manageable and accessible way.

Science Posters: Colorful, informative visual aids will reinforce key concepts and foster an immersive, inclusive classroom environment.

Anatomical Models: Hands-on models of the human body, cells, and other scientific structures will provide ELL students with tangible, visual learning opportunities that transcend language.

These materials will allow students to access science through visual, tactile, and interactive methods, making the subject more comprehensible and engaging. With these tools, I can implement differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all learners, creating a classroom environment where students can thrive academically regardless of their current level of English proficiency.
