This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Enriching students by developing their critical thinking skills and helping them relate science and math content to the real-world.

I currently teach 34 third grade students at a Charter Public School.

In the state of Florida, third grade is a very crucial year. Students will be taking a standardized test called the FCAT. Although my students are aware of the high expectations this year entails, their love of learning and eagerness to learn is truly amazing. My students are very well behaved and bright.

My Project

In Science, students are having a difficult time adjusting to this year's curriculum, since it requires critical thinking skills. Due to the lack of resources, it is very difficult to teach these skills and the students are being affected by it. With the science resources requested, I am more than positive that students will practice critical thinking questions and improve their knowledge of the content. In Math, the curriculum has many gaps and students are struggling with the new standards. With these resources, students will be able to improve their math (multiplication) fluency and increase their test preparation skills. I would use the science lab materials to provide hands-on learning experiences for students. I would use the test-prep math and science materials to provide students with practice and resources to prepare them for state standardized tests.

My students are one of a kind.

They are so bright and their love for learning makes my job so rewarding. The resources requested would make a tremendous difference in the lives of 34+ students because these resources will be used in many years to come.
