My students need an updated laptop that can be used in science class to complete their Power Point slide shows as part of their graduation requirement.

My Students
Technology has become an extremely important part of education. While it may seem strange to a lot of us, there are still many families that do not have computers in their homes.
My students are in 8th grade.
They come from a low income community where most of the students in the building qualify for free lunch. They seem to be enjoying science class more and more, and they benefit most when they are exposed to new ways of learning.
My Project
I am requesting a laptop computer so my students can utilize the Power Point program to create presentations of their science investigations. They can also use it to go online to complete their background research and learn about properly citing sources.
They are required to complete a Power Point presentation as part of their science project graduation requirement. For those that do not have a computer at home, this is a challenge. The kids are excited about using technology to present their information, and they look forward to learning about Power Point, a program they have not used before.
My project is important because it fuses science and technology.
The students will take their new understanding of the scientific method and the study they conducted and demonstrate this comprehension with technology that will also be used by them throughout their academic careers.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
