This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The students in my classes come from low income families and they struggle to find resources they need to buy supplies. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, families in the community lost their jobs causing a greater impact in the education of their students. Students are not able to afford materials such as pencils, notebooks, and erasers. The materials asked for will help students get access to simple materials throughout the year.

As the year has started, I have noticed that students have missed class because of COVID infections and other illnesses.

To prevent students from becoming sick, the cleaning materials, soap, and tissues will be used to keep the classroom clean. I think that the first step in helping students obtain the education they deserve is by providing the resources they need to succeed.

Materials such as personal whiteboards, markers, and whiteboard cloths will be used in the classroom for interactive activities that will help students with learning retention. These whiteboards will encourage students to think about what they are learning and then provide an opportunity to express their ideas in a written form. In addition, these could be used for group discussions which will increase student engagement in the class.
