My Students

My Super Six Scholars are sixth grade students from Washington, DC. My students come into class everyday ready to learn and grapple with the material. My students greatly enjoy hands-on activities and being able to engage with the topics in class in meaningful ways. The school day, for some, provides the most structure, consistency and sense of security for my students. Unfortunately, for some, their last meal at school may also be the last meal of their day.

My role as an educator is not only to teach students the content, but also to create an environment that is supportive, fun and empowering for my students.

To be able to reward students for positive behavior with snacks, helps to create an ideal classroom environment where all students strive to do their best and act their best.

My Project

These snacks will help motivate my students to continue to work hard and stay focused during class. With these materials, I will be able to reward students "College Bucks" which they can save towards a reward. With the College Bucks, I can create a positive connection to higher education and reward desired, positive behavior in my classroom. Students earn bucks for being on task the whole class period, demonstrating the three R's (being Respectful, Responsible, and Ready), and helping other students with their work. The containers are to store the snacks so that no mice can get into the snacks.

I am a first year teacher and am trying my hardest to create a learning environment that can do more to support positive student behavior.

That is my reason for asking for snacks for my students. I appreciate any donation and hope to create a positive learning environment for my students.

Thank you!
