Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are special because they enjoy learning through color. Taking notes in science class can always be fun if you have the right writing utensils. Colorful highlighters and pens help students color code their notes and diagrams. This can be important when learning new vocabulary and concepts. When students are solving punnett square problems I always make sure to show them different ways to color code the key information and vocabulary to help them get started. We also need the glue sticks to glue our notes, diagrams, and foldables in our science notebooks. Everyone loves stickers to keep them motivated and decorate their papers. When the students learn about evolution, having colorful writing utensils will help them analyze phylogenetic trees.
My science students need the rocks for an art project.
Students will use the rocks to paint their favorite animals and insects to place in our garden. We have many student painted stones in our garden and we would love to add more in our garden. I would like to use the stones for an art projects during our two-hour block schedule when the juniors have to test. Campus beautification is something that all students can benefit from.
I would like to use the Teachers Pay Teachers gift card to purchase a biome flipbook lesson where students can draw and create their own assigned biome by drawing their own animals, plants, and human impacts. There is also a 3D model of DNA that students can cut out, color, glue, and assemble. I hope we can display and hang them from the ceiling.
