Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach at low-income school in 1st a first grade classroom full of nature spies.

What started out as a joke, turned into a classroom science project. After making my students eat "Dirt and Worms" We discussed start and started a modest compost pile in a bucket. We then built a classroom terrarium. We explored the World of the Earthworm. As a class we discovered the importance of the earthworm. In discussing other insects that are beneficial to the earth, my students would like to explore the world of ladybugs and butterflies.

We would need bookshelves to create a science area for which to store our terrarium nature investigating materials. We would use bug regalia to help us explore the insect world that helps to keep the planet healthy for all.

Your help would make it possible for my students to respect all living things from the slimy worm to the beautiful butterfly. They will also realize that even though they are just children,they can help protect the planet and its inhabitants. After raising our own ladybugs and butterflies we will set them free.
