My students need to use their creative minds to learn to work together and expand their social skills. Hands on science and technology activities will support their learning and engagement.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school serves students in the city, my classroom is a majority native Spanish speakers who have a variety disabilities. 79% of scholars receive free and reduced lunch and 9% of the students qualify for special education. My scholars have difficulty learning due to language disorders and specific learning disabilities. Implementing hands-on activities using multi-sensory learning is the most functional and successful form of learning for theses students. My students are beginning to express themselves and would benefit from hands on art projects to learn academics.
I work with all special education students who are performing at least two grade levels below their actual grade.
These students need creative ways to learn.
My Project
My students love working with Legos and the space challenge set and Mindstorm set will be a fun and creative way to push an enhance their social skills abilities as a group and individually.
These Lego sets will expand their learning and push them to focus on detailed instructions and work together as a team.
The special education classroom would benefit from a STEM curriculum based on the idea of educating students in four specific disciplines — science, technology, engineering and mathematics — in an interdisciplinary and applied approach. The students deserve fun and interesting ways to learn. Please help support the special education program.
