Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The large majority of the students are ESL. We are a Title One school with a specific demographic. The library here is small and could definitely use funding in order to purchase more current fiction and non-fiction material for the students to read. We are low on several series, as well. I would love to give these children access to more books that they want to read. We need your help in order to give the kids what they need and deserve!!

My Project

We use a reading program called Accelerated Reader. The program takes books and makes tests for them. Then it gives the test a reading level. These titles range from 3rd grade to 2nd grade. The more access these grades have to non-fiction that they can test on is imperative to the success of the library and their overall success in the classroom. Not to mention, there are several new titles here, which can help inspire them as they will be able to relate to the topics. It's very exciting to see how happy they get when they have new books!
