My Students

Hello! I am a teacher at a Title 1 school, that has a unique program for kids with disabilities. This year, I transferred from the self-contained classroom back into the general education classroom (at the same school) and noticed that the needs may be different, but my students still have many struggles to overcome in order to be successful!

My students have a wide variety skills we are working on, one in particular is the ability to do their math facts and read fluently.

This is a group of students who are academically at several different levels, yet are all in the same classroom (which is typical of most classrooms, today). Meeting all of the needs of my students, while continuing on with the curriculum is hard for several of my kids. My students that need to be challenged are left to do more independent work, and my struggling students are provided with more one-on-one attention they need to be successful! I am hoping to even the playing field and have the ability to meet more of my students' needs.

My Project

The Engineer-A-Coaster Kit, STEM Kit, and How to Survive an Earthquake game, from this project, will help to enable my students to learn about how mechanisms work. By being able to build things and see how pieces fit together, my students will be able to better understand machines and how they work. The Globe will also help to enhance the Social Studies lessons provided to them here at our school. Some of my students have taken it upon themselves to learn all of the states and some of the capitals. They have been asking me about countries around the world and I either have to pull down my wall map or try to find one online, because I do not have a globe. This will help my students to continue to take their education into their own hands!

The Help-Yourself Supply Centers are much needed for organization, and will help my students to learn and develop the skills needed to be a valuable member in our classroom by reinforcing organizational skills that they are developing in 2nd grade.

They learn skills like responsibility and how to keep track of their own work. It also allows them to foster relationships with one another, by holding each other accountable for work that is missing from specific students. These supplies will help our class to have the best possible learning environment for all of my students; hands-on, visual, and auditory learners alike.
