Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come to school every day excited to learn! My school is a Title I school, with 92.9% of students coming from low-income families. There is a high percentage of Latinos at my school. I teach students who are learning English as a Second Language.

My students may come from low-income homes, but they are motivated to do well in school, and they enjoy learning!

I teach 3rd-8th grade Special Education. My students have various disabilities including Intellectual Disabilities, Autism, Emotional Disturbance, ADHD, and Learning Disabilities.

My Project

My students need Science Scholastic magazines and Social Studies workbooks to engage them in learning about our world! My students will use the Social Studies workbooks in small groups. It will help them with their reading, as well as learning about Social Studies. We will use the Science Scholastic magazines in small groups. The students will benefit from these magazines because the pictures and interesting stories will engage them. My students will be able to learn about various science topics including the solar system, global warming, plant growth, etc. Using these Social Studies workbooks, I will be able to teach my students about our country and its geography. I'm excited to incorporate maps into my Social Studies lessons using these workbooks.

My school does not have any money to purchase Social Studies and Science materials.

I teach a small resource class with students in grades 4th-8th. My students are at varying levels. It's a challenge to keep my students engaged throughout the day. I believe that my students will enjoy working with Scholastic Science magazines each week, as well as working in Social Studies workbooks. My students get so excited when they receive special materials because we usually have to use handouts to learn. My student will benefit from these materials because I will finally have lessons and materials to use with them. My students will learn about Science and Social Studies topics.
