Science and Sensory and Storytelling, Oh My!

Help me give my students science tools, sensory items, and storytelling props to help them explore the world.

My Project

Our early childhood and early childhood special education programs consist of students from ages 3-5 with varying levels of need. All of our students want to learn, laugh and play in school. The students who attend our programs come from diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds. In addition, many of the students have diverse learning needs.

Although there are many differences in language, culture and learning needs, they all have more in common than not: they love to learn, find joy in playing and have families who want to provide the best education for their children.

This project will help us provide a kid-friendly microscope and anatomy x-rays to help children understand the world around them. Science discovery kits will allow children to explore the laws of nature. Kinetic sand, theraputty and sensory play materials will give incredible sensory input for sensory seekers. Felt board story pieces help children conceptualize a familiar story and practice recalling events.
