My Students
My class is filled with 22 happy and curious 4 year olds. They are ready to learn and grow. Our classroom is built on relationships and purposeful learning. The students love to listen to books and play outside. They are so eager to learn and explore.
Our class is a joyful prekindergarten class in a wonderful school in the heart of Texas.
The school serves a very diverse population with students from ethnic backgrounds found all over the world. We are truly a "melting pot" of students and a reflection of the diverse and culturally rich city we live in. The school also qualifies as a Title 1 school and serves many children from a low socioeconomic background.
My Project
Teaching 4 and 5 year old children about math and science is a fun and rewarding job. I am always looking for new resources to help keep the kids engaged, learning and growing.
Our students are ready and eager to learn and I am ready and eager to meet their needs.
I would like materials to add to the math work station to encourage the students to really understand counting and numbers. I would like to add new materials to my science work station that would help the children practice basic skills of observing and sorting. These materials are highly engaging for kids and are made of high quality materials. These materials also can be adapted for the many different skill levels that can be found in a typical prekindergarten class; they really are materials that can be used successfully by ALL students. Finally, the materials are simple and beautiful. I would love for my students this year to be inspired by these quality materials...and for the materials to be loved and used for years to come.
I have a personal commitment to try to not create waste as much as possible. I try to be very purposeful in choosing the materials that I use in my classroom. I want my lessons and the items I use to teach to really help grow the students who enter my class. These items were chosen with care and with the idea that they could be adapted to a variety of different levels and last for a long time.
