Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am an 8th grade science teacher and the Restorative Community Lead at my school site. This combination of roles had allowed me to be more engaged with building relationships with students in and out of my classroom. Half of my day includes supporting students in community and restorative circles, resolving conflict, and proactively working with students that need extra support in being positively engaged with the community. The other half of my day is teaching 8th grade science.

The combination of these two roles has caused me to be super self-reflective in how I can make my classroom be a space that blends these two roles.

I would LOVE to have a space in my room that can be used by students to collaborate in a more inviting and comfortable space. This space would also be utilized to conduct the circles when I am in my Restorative Lead role of the day.

Overall, this space would be used to support students in collaboration (whether about science or personal conflict).
