My students need supplies, like seeds, peat pots and 20 grass frogs, to conduct biology experiments and dissections.
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Reich's classroom raised $353
This project is fully funded
My Students
Our 7th grade Life Science students have limited Science lab supplies. The dissection specimens, and seeds will be used in investigative experiments. The fruit flies, silkworms, and peppered moth kit will increase our students' understanding of evolution and DNA. We have no other materials like these.
The 2 classes of 7th grade Science students are eager learners, cooperative, and very interested in exploring Science.
They really do deserve more than they we are providing them.
We are a multi ethnic and multi cultural school with students from all over the world. Incomes are moderate to low, but our families are dedicated to the education and welfare of their children. (We had 14 parents volunteer for a field trip - that was more than 1 out of every 4 families.)
We are a K-8 school and parents choose to send their children to our school. We teachers are working to fulfill parents' hopes and and expectations. With your help, we believe that we will.
My Project
I have requested 5 groups of items to increase students' understanding of evolution and the function and structures of invertebrates and vertebrates.
The Peppered Moth Evolution kit will allow students to explore this classic evolution investigation. The kit will reinforce what students read in their textbook. The Starfish and Frog dissection specimens will certainly be remembered. We haven't previously been able to afford dissection specimens. This will greatly enhance students' understanding of invertebrates and vertebrates. I requested 3 types of live, mutant fruit flies. Students will investigate the flies, categorize the mutations, and then explore the underlying hereditary concepts. With the peat pots and various seeds, students will conduct a number of experiments regarding ideal growing conditions, germination, and botany classification. Then students will plant the seedlings in the school garden. The silkworms will primarily demonstrate life stages.
Many thanks in advance to anyone who might be able to contribute to the purchase of these science supplies.
Your help is much appreciated. Our Life Science are eager to learn. Having these Science supplies will make a huge difference in their exposure to investigative labs.
