This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are caring, young scientists that want to make a difference! We want to help our community by creating a habitat for native species at school! We are hoping to create large paintings to help connect our art classes with our habitat and science curriculum.

We are a Science and Technology Magnet school in an urban neighborhood.

There are 643 young scientists here that love to learn! Through the creation of our school's green space, our goal is to foster a love of learning and provide high quality, hands-on educational experiences. We are excited to grow as scientists through the use of our "living classroom"! This year our habitat will be opening and we want our students to be involved! We would like the students to create large, canvas paintings to hang at the front of the habitat. We are hoping to integrate art and science skills to create this paintings!

My Project

Exploring nature can help students think of themselves as learners, explorers, and even teachers. Students will be connected with nature by creating a wildlife habitat on our school grounds. We are requesting materials that will allow us to create large paintings to hang in front of the habitat. We are hoping to connect our art classes with our science classes through the outdoor classroom. Students will design and create large canvas paintings that incorporate the native species living in the school's habitat. The materials will allow students to incorporate their creativity with their science knowledge.

By using this outdoor classroom, students will learn to make informed decisions about how they interact with nature.

We want students to be a part of the process in creating the habitat. The canvases will be used by our students to create large paintings to hang in front of the habitat.
