My Students

Teaching and learning this digital age is challenging at best! Keeping students engaged by using educational games and other manipulatives is a great way to keep them focused, keep the creative juices flowing and teach literacy, math and science skills in a fun and exciting way.

My students are natural born scientists, and are always asking questions.

I teach at a small Title 1 school that has approximately 325 students, and an amazing and supportive principal. My students are eager to learn and their brains are sponges that absorb any and all information given to them. Everything is a potential investigation/experiment to them so I strive to provide my students with as many learning and project-based opportunities as possible. I enhance the school curriculum and students' intrinsic motivation to learn more by infusing STEM correlations whenever possible. Because of our size, funding levels are not as high as other schools in our area so grants become an integral part of how I obtain additional materials to supplement learning experiences.

My Project

In my classroom, my goal is to provide students with as many learning opportunities as I can to enhance student learning. A major part of the curriculum is learning mathematics and science concepts and, creative and expository writing. To that end, my classroom is buzzing everyday with science, math, and literacy centers. The materials in this proposal will enhance these areas by providing my students with additional learning tools and materials that will reinforce skills they are learning everyday. They will "play" games such as "Pop to Win Math" and "Beat the Clock Multiplication and Division Facts" at the centers to enhance math content, record findings and wonderings and investigations in the Science Journals and reinforce daily skills in the Common Core Math and Reading Comprehension Practice Journals, just to name a few. These along with the other resources in this proposal help my students succeed and grow.

Having these materials and resources will make a big difference in my classroom.

My students will be able to access the curriculum through many different avenues and work at their individual pace and level. Learning centers will be well stocked and provide many fun activities for my students. It would be great for my students if we had these resources at the beginning of the school year.
