Schools Not Out Yet, But Supplies Are!

My students need ink for the printer and printing paper so that their assignments can be differentiated accordingly. They also need markers and crayons to help them relax and regroup after lunch.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Teaching in a low-income inner city community for the past 14 years has been an amazing experience. My students are 2nd and 3rd graders and have various degrees of special needs. They are sweet, eager to learn and have a great spirit that keeps me on my toes. Teaching a special education self-contained classroom is challenging and exciting at the same time.

Seeing the 'lightbulb' go off when it just clicks is extremely rewarding for me and they are so proud of themselves that they 'got it!'.

Knowing they do not get a lot at home and are often responsible for helping with so many chores after school, makes me want to support them so much more at school. I want my students to know that it's ok to need help and to ask for it. That's how we can grow and learn so much more.

My Project

My students are very diverse in their academic skills, they require most assignments to be differeniated so that they can access the learning. The printer is used daily and we go through lots of ink and printing paper to make sure all students are learning at their own level.

Coloring is calming, and my students need to calm down after outdoor recess.

Coloring helps them achieve this calmness before getting back into academics. My students prefer markers over crayons and they use the ink so quickly, most markers now are almost out of ink.

By donating to this project, you will be helping my students not only with their academics but also with their emotional well being as well.
