Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are an amazing group of active learners! They come to school eager to learn with unique modalities, and absorb information from their learning experiences in the classroom, connections they make to real-world experiences, and pro-social relationships they develop with their peers.
These dynamic students are inquisitive and developing young problem-solvers relating to their learning environment in collaboration with their peers.
My students are all English Language Learners of various levels. They participate in a daily Reading Foundations Intervention Academies program and benefit from many opportunities for rigorous academic discussion with strong language support throughout the day. One thing I love about my students is their constant thirst for knowledge and discovery!
My Project
All students benefit from listening to music. Music can help them learn, as it can positively impact mind and mood. I am asking for a class set of recorders and a metronome. I plan to use my classroom recorders to teach my students about pitch/melody and counting/rhythm. I will incorporate math by counting beats for notes, and relate tune and melody to illustrate the creativity and emotion of music and literature.
With these recorders, my students will learn to play music collectively, as well as have opportunities to differentiate and present their musical skills in small group, duet, or solo!
Playing the recorder will allow my students to practice focus and perseverance. Students will also develop high interest in the area of music and the performing arts, and begin to increase their sense of music appreciation.
