Schoolgrown Vegetables Taste Better!!!!

I am a third grade teacher in an inclusion class. We started a school-wide garden two years ago, and our school is loving the project. This project has helped us to meet the needs of all children regardless of their ability level.

Our budget is limited and we would REALLY like to keep the garden going. Our students are so engaged in this garden project that they have even recruited their parents to help us with this project in their free time. This past year the children grew so many beautiful vegetables in the outdoor garden, but the groundhogs ate most of them. This is why we thought we could try to grow some of the vegetables inside, and we would be able to harvest a successful crop.

Our solution to the groundhog situation is to try to grow some of the vegetables inside in an indoor garden. We would like to start off with the countertop garden grow lab. This indoor garden might also enable the more apprehensive teachers to participate in this project, thereby including more students in this hands-on approach to learning.

This project really means a lot to our school! The children are learning so much, in so many ways. We have linked every area of our curriculum to the garden, and we have given the children the opportunity to get up out of their seats and participate actively in their learning. By funding our indoor garden, the children will be able to see their hard work flourish right before their eyes. It is beautiful to see a child learn so much, and that learning is all due to the generosity of people like you!
