Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are the most amazing kiddos! They are bright, energetic and curious. As a teacher in a high poverty and high mobility school, my students are faced with challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, they show up with smiles on their faces and are ready to learn.

We are a kindergarten to fifth grade, Title I elementary school with about 450 students.

All students receive free breakfast and lunch. We are a proactive school with several before and after-school tutoring and community outreach programs. Our students' families struggle financially, but everyone is dedicated to helping our parents provide for their children.

The educators and support staff are amazing in their dedication and determination to make a difference in the lives of our students. Our goal is to give each student the very best education and the best support possible at all times. We will not fail in our mission, and our students share our determination to succeed!

My Project

My students will be using the materials I have requested for basic day-to-day classroom functions. These include but are not limited to, their daily "Do Now" activity as well as independent practice, and group projects. My students will be able to enhance their creativity and critical thinking skills with the paper, markers, and pencils. The chart paper is used for them to do collaborative work and it really gives them wonderful opportunities to have academic conversations. For some reason, they always say that working with markers make their work more engaging. Bags will help us store markers and carry them on field trips, along with other things like medical supplies.

With these basic, materials my students will be able to focus their energy on creating thought provoking work, rather than concerning themselves with our current lack of supplies.

Will you help us?
