Can you remember what it was like learning how to read? Just imagine what it is like learning to read, not speaking English, and not having any school supplies. We need your help in providing our students with materials that will improve and enhance their English language and reading comprehension.
My students come from China, Yemen, Mexico, South Korea, India, and Pakistan.
These students all come from low socioeconomic home lives, and they are all struggling at school due to their lack of English language. It is very difficult for them when it comes to reading. They have high motivation and want to learn, but I have a hard time finding things that they are able to read and comprehend. We also lack extra funds in our district to be able to purchase everyday necessities that the students need in order to be successful. The students will become more successful students if they are able to start the school year off with the correct school supplies.
My Project
My students will be learning many different reading strategies and organizational skills with the notebook dividers, pencils, and pencil lead. My students will be able to learn how important it is for them to become organized and have the correct materials to be successful in school. The notebooks, dividers, pencils, and folders will provide the students with places to store and organize their homework. The students are also in need of these basic classroom materials in order to be successful throughout the school year. As the students learn different reading strategies, we will be creating a reading log book for the students to continue to add to throughout the school year. You will be enhancing our curriculum a great deal for these ESL students.
My students are going to be so excited about this project.
They really love learning to read, write, and communicate in English, and they are so excited about having the opportunity to use new educational materials.
They will be able to creatively express themselves while learning how to read and comprehend what they are reading. Please help me instill a love of reading and writing in my students.
