School Supplies for Students

Help me give my students basic school supplies such as copy paper, glue sticks, and Post-It notes.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Shaw's classroom raised $209

My Students

The students at my school are an energetic and hardworking group of children. They enjoy coming to school, but school funding cuts over the years have impacted what schools can provide to individual classrooms.

I teach second grade in an urban neighborhood where all the students at my school are eligible for free breakfast and free lunch.

Some students live below the poverty line and their families struggle to provide them with basic necessities needed to be successful in school. Despite these obstacles, our school has hard-working students, as well as teachers and staff, who strive to make our school a welcoming and inviting place. In addition, our school is one of the top-performing schools in the city.

My Project

School supplies are always needed, and having these supplies will make it easier to get through the rest of the school year. I use it for class assignments as well as weekly homework packets. Paper is always needed since teachers at my school only get 10 reams at the beginning of the school year.

Some supplies such as Post-It Notes and dry erase markers are used on a daily basis.

These are items that are greatly needed. My students use Post-It notes when working with me in small guided reading groups. Students track their thinking on the Post-It notes and are able to stick it to the page they are reading. This helps me to see what they are connecting to while reading and identify students' strengths as a reader. My students do board work in small groups. Different colored markers help them as they work through math problems and study words. For example, students will differentiate between vowels and consonants using different colors. This helps students see word patterns. Our supply of glue sticks is dwindling, so we definitely need more. These supplies will help us with small group work.
