School Supplies For Fifth Grade!

My students need school supplies such as backpacks, scissors, colored pencils, crayons, glue, markers, pencil cases, pencils, whiteboard markers, and Clorox wipes to keep our room clean.

My Students

I have a group of thirty-four fifth graders who come from a variety of different backgrounds. About half of my class are English language learners and have made huge improvements in their English skills. They are all eager to learn and enjoy coming to school everyday. My school is located in a mixed economic area in Sacramento. Many of my students are being raised by single mothers or fathers and have limited access to materials after school is out.

We are working hard on establishing growth mindset with our students so they know they can accomplish anything they put their minds to.

My Project

Many of our families struggle to meet all of the needs of their children. I would like to help families that are struggling by providing school supplies that students can use throughout the school year.

I remember when I was young and I went with my mom to pick out my super cool backpack for the new school year.

Not all of these families can afford that. While we are given some backpacks for free through community organizations, many of these bags are flimsy and fall apart after a few months of hard use. The backpacks I am asking for should last students a whole school year. I plan on breaking the colored pencil set up so that each student will receive a full set to put into the pencil holder for use all school year long. Students will also need a good pair of scissors, pencils, and whiteboard markers. Every teacher knows that no matter how hard you try, whiteboard markers magically dry out after a month or two. I would like to have a few extra sets for use when I need them.

The crayons, markers, and glue will be used as needed, for the whole class to borrow. The Clorox wipes will help keep our room germ-free. Thank-you so much for your support.
