This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The beginning of the school year is over, and necessary supplies seem to be disappearing quickly! For many of our students, though, it is a challenge for their families to find both the time and the financial resources to be able to afford all of the basic supplies that they need. We need your help!

My students are passionate students who yearn to head off to four-year universities and come back to better their communities.

They are involved in anything and everything, but most importantly, they are scholars in the classroom. 97% of our student body are ethnic minorities who come from low-income families in Los Angeles, and who lack the financial resources to constantly add pencils and notebooks to backpacks. Our charter school's vision is to provide the best quality education at little to no cost for the students - an education that will develop them to be college ready, college bound, agents of social change. One way that we'd like to support our students is by providing for them the supply resources that they need for their academic classes.

My Project

My co-teachers and I have found that financial resources as well as unstable home lives make it such that it is difficult for an entire classroom of students to come completely prepared with all necessary materials. By providing school supplies for our students, you will minimize the stress that families go through in providing for their kids and you will maximize learning time as teachers and students won't have to scramble at the beginning of the class periods looking for supplies. The notebooks you provide will allow our students to be organized with their warm-ups and their notes. Organization is key to their success because it teaches students how to use structure information they receive and use it to study. The pencils and erasers will save an exorbitant amount of class time because students won't need to ask the instructor or their peers for the supplies that they need. All of the time saved in class will maximize their learning time - exactly what the students need.

By donating school supplies to our students, you will be supporting their families' financial health, the students' organizational skills, and the students' ability to access the academic material.
