This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have an amazing group of 2nd graders coming to me in a few weeks. Their 1st grade year was cut short due to COVID-19 and I want to ensure that they have a safe return back to school.

My school is a Title I school with about 750 students.

Our students come from homes where their parents are just trying to provide the basics for them. Most of the students receive free lunch. My 2nd grade students range from ELL (English Language learners) and SLD, (students with Specific Learning Disabilities), to students that are gifted and talented.

My Project

Due to COVID-19, my students can no longer use the communal supplies in the classroom. I would like to purchase individual sets of classroom supplies for my students. The majority of my school's population cannot afford their own school supplies every year, making this even harder to have my students prepared for class each day.

Each student will receive storage for their personal crayons, pencils, markers, colored pencils and erasers.

Having personal supplies rather than communal supplies will also aide in teaching my students accountability for their own belongings. Help keep us healthy and accountable in school.
