Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

After having a challenging and different year, my 2nd and 3rd grade students will be returning to full in-person learning this fall for the first time in 18 months. I am a first-year teacher, and I want to set up a classroom that is welcoming and allows our students to do and be their best selves. Students naturally possess a natural joy, curiosity, and enthusiasm for learning that deserves to be empowered and encouraged with a classroom environment that supports their physical and social-emotional needs during such a significant transition.

My students come from one of the poorest districts in the country, many are English Language Learners and are culturally diverse, and maintaining a culturally relevant classroom is a challenge.

My Project

By providing my students with the resources they need to learn and thrive, they will feel more confident and secure in their learning experience. My students come from a high needs and low-income area. This will be the first time many of the students are stepping into a school building after experiencing different learning styles nationwide. There is a lot of learning that needs to be taken place in order to get our students back from where they need to be. When students don't have the supplies they need, it interferes with learning and achieving our educational goals. With the proper materials in school and the essentials supplies, my students will be prepared to learn about all the subject areas such as literacy, math, art, science, and more! You can give these students the tools they need to learn and the opportunity to grow as individuals by increasing their confidence. Help me create a learning environment where all students have access to the supplies they need. I am asking for school supplies such as folders, tape, pencils, notebooks, dry eraser markers, erasers, chart papers for visual and essentials materials to have a clean classroom and to make sure our students are safe such as Lysol wipes and bounties to help create a learning experience for my students that ensures success.
