My Students

My third-grade classroom is an exciting place for all students to learn and grow as scholars and citizens of a bigger world. They are taught and encouraged to work with others to challenge each other and themselves.

It is a place where differences are celebrated and supported.

As a class community, we understand that children learn in different ways and at different paces. With that understanding in mind, students work together in teams to leverage each students strengths to help each other learn and grow. Some students work best in groups, while others need some space to process information alone before engaging with others. Some students need hard copies of texts while others prefer digital or audio/visual access to those same or differentiated texts to best process and learn from them. The students are highly engaged in their learning and progress due to their input and investment in the process

My Project

What better way for a student to feel welcomed and ready for a new school year than with new school supplies attractively labeled just for them? I will print up all the students' names on the large and small labels and create a welcome back to school kit for each student including a large and small notebook they will use to record notes and interact with lessons by writing their ideas, solving problems, and responding to literature. These welcome back kits will also include pencils, highlighters, and colored pens that students will use to respond to assignments and prove proficiency by highlighting and/or color coding different components different colors to prove he or she has included all aspects of the task. The copy paper will be used to make photocopies of anchor charts that will be assembled into a resource guide and sent home for students and families to use as a resource and guide. Each learning area around the room will also be stocked with ruled chart paper and fun colored pens to work collaboratively with others and show off their learning.
