School Supplies for a Strong Start

Help me give my students school supplies for the 2019-2020 school year. A classroom filled with backup supplies for students whose families are unable to afford them will help to ensure confidence from the first day of school!

My Students

The writers I teach impress me everyday. They have a strong work ethic and strive for excellence in all that they do, meeting challenges both academic and personal with great character.

Over ninety percent of my students are Hmong American, and many struggle with English language proficiency.

You can imagine the challenges that a composition course presents. Grammar rules that native English speakers simply absorbed as small children must be kept at the front of my students' minds as they attempt mastery of rhetoric. All this, and they're still eager to improve their academic writing. Your donation will help me honor this strong work ethic.

My Project

In order to kick off the school year strong, my first days of writing classes typically require students to organize binders, setup composition notebooks, and establish strong study habits. The many supplies listed in this project will go a long way in helping us all feel prepared for the learning ahead.

This project allows me to ensure that every student is prepared to confidently take on our learning objectives, even if some are unable to obtain their school supplies.

Instead of feeling shame for not having the required materials, students can feel supported and empowered when I am able to offer the needed supplies.
