My Students

My school serves a very diverse population where many of the students or their families are from another country. There are over 20 different languages spoken by our families and the diversity of our students makes our school unique and special.

We are a high poverty, Title I school in an urban neighborhood.

Our students come to school for a safe place where their basic needs are met by the warm and welcoming staff members. The students get constant support and are engaged in their learning. For most of them, the opportunities that they have at school will help shape their futures.

My Project

My school needs walkie talkies to help keep teachers/staff/administration in communication throughout the school day. We need these devices in case of an emergency with a student or any outside threats so we can be in immediate communication with everyone in the building if needed. At this time our school only has a few working walkie talkies for essential personnel (nurse, admin, secretary, school counselor, recess). We do not have enough for all staff, which makes it difficult to get in touch with administration if we need someone quickly. Any contribution to this project would make a huge different to the safety of our school!
