Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work with fifth graders in an urban school in Philadelphia teaching math and science. Every year my classes change, but one things remains: they all strive to succeed. I encourage conversation, self discovery and they never let me down! With the change in our class styles this year, more than ever these things will hold true. Giving each student what they need as individuals in order to succeed in what will be our “new” normal is my top priority.
My Project
This document camera will allow students and myself to work together during math lessons even while at a distance. I will be able to work through problems with them, step by step, as they interact with myself and the rest of our class. While we cannot be together yet, this will help us to work better until we can be. With our school year so different than ever before this will provide a little bit of normalcy: working together without other forms of tech. We will use this tech to be as close to in person as we can be. When we do ge track to our classroom, we will still be able to use this document camera. Students will be able to use it with each other to demonstrate and learn together. As a class we will be able to enhance and move away from paper or computer screens. This provides a whole new medium for our work.
