My Project
An urban garden is essential for low-income students because it provides access to fresh, nutritious food that may otherwise be limited in their communities. Many low-income neighborhoods are "food deserts," where access to affordable, healthy food options is scarce. By creating a garden within a school or community space, students gain the opportunity to grow their own fruits and vegetables, which can supplement their diets and promote healthier eating habits. This access to fresh produce can have a significant impact on their physical well-being, helping to address nutritional gaps and reduce the risk of health issues associated with poor diets, such as obesity and diabetes. The garden bed, starter seeds and other kits will make it possible.
More than half of students from low‑income households
