School Counselors Helping Littles Dream Big With Books!

Help me give my students the Treasury of 50 Little People, Big Dreams biographies to read in their homeroom classes during National School Counseling Week and in celebration of Black History Month.

My Project

As School Counselors, we get to see our students in ways many teachers may never get to. Though our time with students is often not long, we can experience some of the most rewarding and inspiring moments with them and we can only hope our students feel the same. This year's National School Counseling Week theme (determined by the American School Counseling Association) is "School Counselors: Helping Students Dream Big" and, in our opinions, there truly could not be a more fitting theme for our counseling staff's hopes and goals for what impact we have on our students.

Coming from low-income families, it is imperative that we provide our students with ample examples of people they can relate to who dreamed big and had the courage to pursue their dreams.

By providing our K-3rd grade classes with sets of the Little People, Big Dreams books, we can do just that.

While we cannot provide class sets to all of our K-3 teachers and students, offering these books for teachers to use alongside our elementary counselor for targeted class lessons about famous dreamers will hopefully inspire our students to learn more about those individuals who pique their interests, work hard in their classes, find their passions, and most importantly, never stop dreaming.
