Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My role in the school setting is very special. I am the school counselor for about 800 students and what makes my students special is their resilience. I grew up in the same city that my students grew up so I see myself in them. I know the struggles they face day in and day out as they come to school. This is why I am so invested in created a different experience for them and I am committed to their social emotional learning so that they can not only be successful scholar but happy.

My Project

These items will help my students receive a comfy school counseling office environment. My students will feel more comfortable talking about their hardships because they will be in a safe space that does not look like the typical classroom environment.

The carpet will go in my calming space where students will be able to lay down and cool off.

The bean bags will help students sit in alternative settings that is different than their classrooms. The fidgets will provide a sensory experience for my students if they need a break or need help regulating.
