This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 3rd grade students are enthusiastic and excited to learn. Most of them are bilingual and they speak Spanish at home. They love gardening and watching butterflies grow. Last year we planted some flowers and got to see the whole Monarch butterfly life cycle. The students were fascinated.

My Project

These materials will complete our school butterfly garden. Students will use these gardening tools to work in and care for the new butterfly/pollinator garden that we just got set up at our school. We have the garden plot, soil and plants but no tools yet!

The students love visiting the garden each day to see how the plants are growing.

They want to be able to water the plants, dig in the soil, add new plants as we get them, sow some seeds, and show what they are learning about gardening and pollinators.
