Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Three years ago, I started a school-based food pantry in my school. Many families work multiple jobs and long hours in order to make sure they can afford food and housing. We have families that share an apartment with extended family members in order to be able to afford life. I want to be able to give these families some food in order to ease the struggle, even if it is only a little.
After the pandemic, the struggle to make ends meet increased.
I stated the pantry to be able to ease the struggle a bit. I send home 2 bags of food every week. The bags included rice, pasta, tomato sauce, and tomato paste, to name a few items.
