This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Three years ago I started a school-based food pantry in the school I work in. The school is a Title I school with over 300 students. Most of the families struggle to make ends meet.
I am requesting food items in order to create bags of food to help 24 families.
I distribute food almost every Friday. The number of families that come, went from about 6 or 7 families a week to 20 to 25 families a week. I have some funding but not enough to sustain these numbers throughout the school year.
