This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are filled with wonder and curiosity! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects, and challenges that allow them to use their own inquiries to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my inspiration!
Many students in my classroom have expressed difficulty with completing assignments at home because of a lack of supplies and digital resources.
Our school is nestled in the heart of NYC, which was once a bustling mecca. Now, with many businesses closed, these families often struggle to find employment and opportunity. Many of my students' family income is used only for necessities.
Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are! They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each year!
My Project
Scholastic News and Science Spin will make a difference in my students' learning by providing an engaging nonfiction resource for exploring the world around them digitally and in print.
Science Spin focuses on animals in grade 2, so we will be using this as a resource to support the writing of our "All About..." animal books.
It is my hope to continue to encourage my students' love for nonfiction reading material that is high quality and always engaging! By the end of the year, my students will have acquired a wealth of knowledge about current events and animals!
