My Project
This project will provide weekly Scholastic Magazines and Monthly Scholastic Science Spin magazines for my students in the 2022 - 2023 school year. Scholastic magazines follow the West Virginia standards and ties them to the real world for students. It brings what we learn in the classroom to life for the students as we read and learn about it.
Scholastic Science Spin meets the academic standards showing students that learning can be relevant to what's in the world today.
Teaching students about our environment is important for our future. Some of the topics this magazine subscription covers are investigations, interdependent relationships of ecosystems, our human impact on the Earth, and much more. The articles are interesting and tend to draw readers in making their science education more fun. The magazines also have experiments within them that I can do with the students to engage them in hands-on learning.
Scholastic gives students engaging stories that adds to our curriculum. It also gives us access to more online material for students to learn from. This magazine helps integrate reading into the other core subjects. These magazines are appealing to students, fun, and add interest to subjects in our class.
The addition, these learning magazines would also help my students connect school and home learning. These magazines will go home with students, creating new topics of discussion in the home, and will make classroom lessons more relevant in students’ daily lives.
