Scholastic News and Leveled Books

My Students

I teach third grade in a Title I school. Over half of the students are on free and reduced lunch. There are 22 students in my classroom, and it is the best class around! We have several students who identify as an ELL (English Language Learner).

The students are amazing and constantly trying hard to learn to the best of their abilities!

As their teacher I want to help them succeed the best I can, and with these different seating options I believe it will help.

My Project

It's not always easy to get students interested in things that are happening in our world, but with a subscription and their own magazines this will help peak their interest and get them reading more. We will be able to use this as a class and read aloud as well as assign students to read articles on their own as well.

Students will be able to grow their reading abilities and boost their comprehension using nonfiction texts.

Students aren't always interested in nonfiction text but through current events I believe we will change that.

To get books that are already leveled the students will be able to choose books that they are able to read and comprehend in our classroom library. This will help them increase their reading level and give them a lot of different choices to pick from in our classroom.
