it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students coming from a low income /high poverty school district, my students are faced with many challenges and hardships both inside and outside the classroom. My students come from a diverse background. Most of the students are English language learners and struggling readers. In addition, their families come from a low-income background, where almost every student is classified as socioeconomically disadvantaged.
My students are a group of 2th graders eagers of knowledge, artists and problem solvers.
These kind hearted young learners are ready to make a difference in this world even in these uncertain times. As educator, my job is to prepare them to be successful and give them the tools they need to make their passions for reading become a reality.
My English language learners will be able to access resources to help their receptive and expressive language. As an educator, it is my goal to help my students to find joy in learning and create a meaningful, successful future for themselves but I need the resources to provide opportunities and options to help them succeed in their academic level.
My Project
This project will provide to my students and it will give the opportunites to read articles as a whole class, small group and indenpendently. During this time my students and I will work on improving in their student'sliteracy skills by focusing on key vocabukary words which help them enrich their vocabulary. It will also build reading comprehension in students because they will participate in close reading activites. In addition to developing their writing skills by writing about the topics we are learning about.
Having the opportunity to study current events will help my students understand the importance of people, events and issues in the news.
this practice positively affects students reading habits and encourage lifelong news readers.
