I teach at a PreK-5th-grade Title I school in a small town in a rural area of North Carolina. Our students receive free breakfast and lunch. My first graders are a community of diverse learners who are hardworking, inquisitive, and eager to learn about the world in which they live. I want to give them the opportunity to learn about past and current events.
I am requesting a class subscription to Scholastic News magazine.
First graders love to explore new topics, ask questions, and share what they have learned. This high-interest, age-appropriate resource brings nonfiction topics—like science, social studies, current events, and health—to life with vibrant visuals, simple text, and hands-on activities tailored for first graders.
Many of my students do not have access to kid-friendly nonfiction texts at home. A subscription to Scholastic News will give each child a copy of every issue to take home, reread, and proudly share with their families. Your support will put meaningful texts in the hands of young learners—helping them grow as informed readers and thinkers.
