My Students

As a teacher at a Title I school, my students are mostly from low-income homes. Although I have not met my students for the upcoming school year, my students' in the past have always come to school eager to learn.

We serve 644 students pre-k through fifth grade and over half of them come from a low-income household.

They still come to school happy. They love to learn new things in new ways. They are proud of all they accomplish and love to show off their work.

My Project

This project, if fully funded, will provide scholastic magazines for my students of the 2017-2018 school year. Scholastic magazines follow our common core standards and ties them to the real world. Students can see why their education is so important with fun facts.

Science Spin meets the science standards showing students environmental science.

Teaching students about our environment is important for our future. Some of the topics this magazine subscription covers are investigations, interdependent relationships in ecosystems, Human impacts on earth systems, and much more. The articles are interesting and tend to draw readers in making their science education more fun. The magazines also has experiments within them that I can do with the students.

Scholastic News gives students engaging, on level, stories that adds to our curriculum. It also gives us access to more online material for students to learn from. This magazine helps with science education as well as other subject areas. Teachers always praise these magazines for being appealing, fun, and adding interest to subjects in their class.
