Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My kindergarten students are an enthusiastic & inquisitive group of children. They are mostly second language learners with families originating from mostly Hispanic countries. Some of my students live with both parents, siblings &/or extended family, while others live with a single working parent. This entire school year thus far has be one of Distance Learning as we work & live in the times of the Pandemic. Despite the struggles that families face, my students thrive with loving support from home and high classroom expectations.
Curiosity, joyfulness, persistence, supportive, & collaborative are all words that describe my group of young scholars who prepare to meet the challenges of the near future.
I am proud of the way they've learned to remain engaged in less-than-desirable circumstances this school year. And I'm proud of the way their families have gone above & beyond in helping to create our classroom community. Experiences within our classroom have set the stage for 1st grade & beyond.
My Project
Erasable white boards & book pouches are examples of the tools & resources my students need to keep the learning going! The teacher file bag & the All About Today pocket chart are tools & resources that I need to stay organized & help keep students engaged!
It's all about organization: it's become more important than ever before to think, plan, & implement under new physical environments.
A pocket-chart rack on wheels lets me easily display lesson resources. The Hoberman Sphere provides a concrete tool to the visual breaths we take during our breaks to decompress in between lessons. When tools are functional, transitions become seamless, & that benefits everyone in the classroom!
