Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have an awesome group of 6th graders! They are part of the reason why Compton, CA is on the way to a positive future.
Middle School can be a difficult transition for any student, and many of my students are also dealing with the kinds of issues that would be difficult for most adults.
Still, they make the choice each day to show up to class and do their best despite problems they may be facing outside of school. As a teacher, I feel it is my duty to continually guide these children to become the best version of themselves they can be!
My Project
This year, our district is partnering with a local university to boost our students' math knowledge, and also to make Math more exciting to learn.
So far this year, I have seen a tremendous increase in my students' participation and enjoyment in Math class!
The only difficulty has been keeping track of all of the printed materials used. It's such a waste to do all of the work, only to have students throw away their finished assignments. Those who keep them are often just cramming them into their backpacks. I'd love to be able to provide them with a 3-ring binder so they can effectively and easily organize the assignments in which they've devoted so much time and effort!
