Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is a Title I school with students from second to sixth grade. My students are from the inner city and are mostly English language learners. Our school is a pilot school. The school's philosophy focuses on leadership skills with an emphasis on critical thinking and twenty-first century skills.
My students are hardworking, resourceful, and self-motivated young people who are eager to be lifelong learners.
The majority of the students who attend our school will be the first in their families to attend college.
My Project
We live in a time when the validity of global warming is being questioned. Research has shown that our Earth's temperature is increasing every year. This hands-on project introduces the seriousness of these issues but also gives my students the opportunity to learn how to help prevent this issue from escalating.
When it comes to protecting our planet, there is no subject that is more important than that of researching one of the main causes of global warming.
My students will tackle the issue of how they can make an impact when it comes to global warming. They will use the iPad to research solutions for this problem. The cases and covers will help with keeping the technology in our classroom in good shape. Students will use the engineering process to design eco-friendly kits. The renewable energy kits will be used so that my students can build and observe how other forms of energy can be used so that dependence on fossil fuels is lessened. Warming temperature and rising sea levels are just some of the effects of what global warming has caused. This project will help my students understand the vital role they can take in caring for the planet.
