Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Middle school is such an unbearably hard time for so many. My goal in teaching middle school is to make it a little less difficult while giving my students the resources they need to succeed. I teach at a Title 1 school, which means that the majority of our students qualify for free and reduced-price lunch.
When home life is turbulent, I want my classroom to be a place where students are able to relax and feel at home.
Our school provides food boxes and resources to any families in need, and we pride ourselves on taking care of our own community. Many of our students still enjoy their teachers and coming to school and we feel like it's our job to set them up for success to continue to enjoy learning as they move onto high school. So many of our students have been through so much, we want school to be a safe place for them.
My Project
As a Special Education and ELL teacher, my students come from all backgrounds, with different struggles and need time to be able to relearn content at their own pace. However, due to class sizes, I'm unable to personally guide these students at their own pace one on one. I teach multiple sections of a class we call Strategies, which for me, is spent reteaching or assisting with homework.
Having a Study.com Teacher account would allow me to create accounts for my students so they can relearn at their own pace.
I am lucky to have a class set of laptops in my classroom and want to use them more and more, and I know these student accounts will help. Because they're virtual should we move back to all online learning, students will still be able to access their supplementary material and work through it. Study.com provides reteaching activities for students with videos and quizzes for all subjects as well, which allows my students to relearn content as many times as possible.
