My Students

“Music is about communication, creativity, and cooperation, and by studying music in schools, students have the opportunity to build on these skills, enrich their lives, and experience the world from a new perspective.” – Bill Clinton This is a philosophy I live by in my music classroom.

I teach Preschool through third grade music in a small Title I school district in New Jersey.

Over the years, I have taught music in many grades and many places, but I have found none to be as rewarding as teaching young children music. My students are so enthusiastic about learning, and I want to make sure that they have all the materials they need so that they can get the most out of their music education.

My Project

Students love to move to music, and they love having manipulatives in their hands while doing so. Be it a bean bag, a streamer, or a scarf, these things help them to move freely and creatively. My current supply of scarves has been well loved - they are tattered, frayed, and totally torn. With these new scarves, students can move like ocean waves, take a magic carpet ride to explore music of faraway lands, and so much more!

Experiencing music through movement is an essential part of music learning, and these scarves truly enhance the process. Students will get so much use out of the scarves not only this year, but for years to come!
