My Project
Our class is excited to welcome a bearded dragon as a new member of our learning community! Having a classroom pet will not only bring joy and curiosity into our space, but it will also provide rich, hands-on learning opportunities. Students from Kindergarten through 5th grade visit me each week for Math Lab, and the bearded dragon will become a fun, engaging part of our learning environment. Caring for the pet will teach responsibility and empathy, while also giving students a living example of life science concepts and daily routines that tie directly into math.
In Math Lab, we’ll use our bearded dragon to collect and analyze real data.
Students can track its growth over time, monitor feeding schedules, measure habitat temperatures, and calculate costs for care and supplies. They can graph weight changes, compare food quantities, and even explore patterns in behavior. These real-life applications of math make the subject more meaningful and memorable for students, helping them see how math is truly all around them—even in a scaly, lovable class pet!
