My Students

As a business class, my students are always wanting to start and run a school business. Every day they come in with fresh ideas and ask when they can start one. With unlimited resources, it hasn't been possible.

My students are 8th graders who love doing things hands on.

They love working together and creating ideas. The school that they attend is half Arts Magnet and the other half a regular school. My students are a part of the regular school. Therefore, they don't have access to resources that the Arts Magnet school does.

My Project

My 8th grade business classes are starting a photography business from scratch; therefore, we need a lot of resources. We need a mobile standing computer station to place our TV monitor on that will display the pictures being taken. Since the students will be taking pictures in different areas, they will need a camera bag to place the cameras in and accessories, and a memory card case. Most importantly, we need photo paper to print the pictures on.

My students will have a photography studio to run as a mock small business.

With this studio, the students will not just take pictures and sale them, but they will also learn how to market their products and services, they will use the studio to take pictures for events that take place at the school, and they will use their pictures in the computer lab to create documents, such as, brochures and business cards. With all of these elements learned, they will be able to create products that people in the business world use and need every day.
